Welcoming Jamie Shearer as Chair
We are delighted to welcome Jamie Shearer as the new Chair of Step Together Volunteering.
Having previously served as a Trustee, Jamie steps into the role with a strong understanding of our organisation, our mission and the communities we support. Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter as we continue our work helping people build brighter futures.
Jamie brings extensive experience across finance, compliance, risk and people leadership. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG before building her career in financial services, beginning in internal audit and later moving into compliance and risk within asset management. Today, she leads a finance and HR team and is recognised for her supportive leadership style, dedication to developing others and passion for helping people grow in confidence and capability.
Alongside her professional career, Jamie is a strong advocate for diversity, inclusion and opportunity. She sits on her company’s Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Consultation Group and volunteers with a charity that encourages young women to pursue careers in asset management.
At Step Together Volunteering, we support young people who are not in education, employment or training, young people involved in - or at risk of entering - the criminal justice system, and members of the Armed Forces community. Through one-to-one support and community volunteering opportunities, we help people develop the skills, confidence and connections they need to create brighter, more positive futures.
Jamie’s values, leadership experience and commitment to empowering others make her ideally placed to lead the organisation as we continue to grow our impact and support more people within our communities.
Anna-Clare, CEO said: ‘I’m absolutely delighted that Jamie has taken on the role of Chair of Trustees. Her commitment to Step Together Volunteering and to the people we support has been clear from the moment she joined the board, and I know she will bring both passion and thoughtful leadership to the role. Jamie’s professional experience, strategic insight and strong governance expertise will be a huge asset as we continue to strengthen our impact and support people facing multiple disadvantage to build brighter futures.’
Speaking about her appointment, Jamie said:
“I am truly honoured and delighted to accept the role of Chair of Trustees. The team provides vital support to people at some of the most important, transitional, and transformative moments in their lives, often when that support is needed most. What stands out so clearly through the many testimonials from those we support is the genuine and lasting difference this organisation makes to individuals. To see the impact of compassion, dedication, and expertise reflected so powerfully in people’s experiences is both inspiring and deeply humbling. I feel privileged to join a team so committed to creating positive change, and I look forward to supporting and championing this important work in the years ahead.”
We are excited to begin this new chapter with Jamie as Chair and look forward to the insight, energy and compassion she will bring to the role in the years ahead.
Welcome, Jamie!
