Vacancy - Project Manager (Support Worker), Young People in the Criminal Justice System, Bristol and Surrounding Areas
Project Manager (Support Worker): 1-1 support for young people at risk of offending
Do you have experience of supporting young people at risk of becoming involved or are already involved in crime? Do you have the drive and the passion to work with them to build a life away from the justice system? Do you enjoy working with young people on a 1-1 basis, building rapport and trust and working to help them achieve positive outcomes?
Step Together Volunteering is proud to be celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2024 and you will be joining us at an exciting time when we are looking to expand our support in Bristol and the surrounding areas. Building on 7 years’ experience of supporting young people in Bristol (and 30 years’ experience working with young people overall), and with funding in place, we are looking to recruit two experienced support workers to join our young people’s team, focusing on young people at risk of becoming involved in crime or those who already are involved.
This role is full-time, however, we are open to alternative working patterns.
In this role you will provide 1-1 intensive support to a caseload young people who are identified as being at risk of offending or have already had some contact with the justice system (e.g. the police). You will provide face-to-face support to each young person, in their local community, to help them develop confidence, aspirations, and a pro-social mindset. Key to this will be helping them to recognise their strengths and capabilities, consider positive lifestyle choices, and create an action plan to help them move forward to a brighter future.
Salary & Benefits:
Competitive starting salary of £26,265, & 33 days annual leave including bank holidays and additional time off at Christmas. We offer a stakeholder pension scheme with employer contributions up to 5%; life insurance; enhanced sick pay; employee assistance and staff wellbeing programme; childcare vouchers; cycle to work scheme; full induction, regular supervisions and training; laptop and mobile phone; regular team communications, away days and support.
About Us:
Our Charity aims to make a difference to people’s lives through 1-1 coaching and positive volunteering experiences. By working with them for as long as it takes, we help them build their self-esteem, confidence, skills, and aspirations. Our staff team is key to this work, and we are a “family” of dedicated individuals who strive to give people a new focus and a fresh start in life. We also care about each other and have a strong work ethic, sharing our learning and experiences through reflective practice and peer support. Our ethos is to ‘connect, engage and empower’ our clients – using strengths-based coaching, we help them play an active role in identifying and achieving their own goals. We know that progress is not linear and effecting this change takes time, patience and understanding.
Location:
As these are home-based roles, you could be based anywhere within the Bristol area.
There will be a requirement to travel across the area to meet young people and access to a car is essential. There is also access to our Bristol office, which is open 5 days a week in central Bristol.
About You:
We are looking for personable, highly self-motivated and determined individuals with a good understanding of the issues young people face, especially those that have come into contact with the justice system. It is likely that you will have carried out a similar role in the past, bringing directly relevant experience and knowledge with you. Building rapport and gaining each young person’s trust will be essential to helping them build resilience and take steps towards a positive future.
